"Raised in a family with strong artistic roots, creativity was enshrined into my DNA. I was surrounded by creative individuals who encouraged and nurtured my enthusiasm for art from the moment I could hold a pencil.

I developed an early love for producing figurative sculpture but later transferred my passion and skills into painting and drawing portraits"

Kitty Bellamy was born in 1982, Dover, England.  With an arts heritage going back over six generations, she followed her innate creative flare and in 2001 undertook a Foundation Diploma in Fine Art at KIAD (Canterbury).  After graduating, Kitty left the art world to pursue other interests, returning to the arts in 2007 after the birth of her first daughter.

In 2013 Kitty helped establish Bils & Rye, a contemporary art gallery set within the beautiful North York Moors, and spend many happy years selecting and curation artworks by leading British and international modern sculptors, painters and ceramicists.   In 2016 Kitty took a brief break from her own art career to help with managing the gallery's continuing growth and popularity, returning to her art in 2018.  In 2020 Kitty left the gallery team to pursue her chosen careers in art and piano restoration.

Bils & Rye can be found on John Street in Harrogate and is well worth a visit; you may well spot Kitty in there periodically!

Kitty is based in the ancient market town of Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, England.  A beautiful part of the country with a stunning coastline and spectacular scenery.  She has two dogs, a cat and three children and lives in a very arty house.

She has spent her life making works of art, which have varied in subject and style as she evolved and honed her skills.  She now concentrates her time on producing representational portraits.  When she's not at the easel she can be found in a workshop in Pickering helping to restore and rebuild antique pianos.  Kitty works with The Piano Workshop as their head of cabinet finishing.
